Privacy Policy

TutorLink processes personal data in full compliance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates, including:

• Federal Decree-Law No. 44 of 2021 — establishing the UAE Data Office
• Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumours and Cybercrimes
• Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 on Crimes and Penalties (Penal Code)
• Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection
• UAE Constitution, Article 31 — freedom and confidentiality of communications

Data you provide:

• Full name, email address, phone number, and date of birth at registration
• Emirates ID or passport number (Teachers only — for identity verification)
• Profile information: subjects, qualifications, experience, location, availability, and profile photo
• Payment details (processed securely via payment gateway — card numbers not stored)
• Messages and communications sent through Platform Channels
• Reviews and ratings submitted after sessions

Data collected automatically:

• Device identifiers, IP address, browser type, and operating system
• Location data — only when you permit location access
• Session activity logs: pages visited, features used, and time spent
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies

Under the UAE PDPL (Article 4 and Cabinet Decision No. 33 of 2024), personal data may only be processed where a lawful basis exists. TutorLink processes data to operate the platform, verify tutors, process payments, resolve disputes, and improve user experience.

TutorLink does not sell your personal data to third parties. We share data only in these circumstances:

• Between Teachers and Students — limited profile information visible as part of the marketplace
• Payment processors — for secure transaction processing only
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — bound by data processing agreements
• UAE regulatory and law enforcement authorities — only where legally required
• Safeguarding disclosures — where a concern about a minor user's welfare arises

TutorLink stores all personal data on servers located in the UAE. In limited circumstances, data may be accessed by technical partners outside the UAE with appropriate contractual safeguards in place under Articles 22 and 23 of the PDPL.

• Minor users' personal data is not visible in public search results beyond what is strictly necessary
• In-app messages involving minor users are subject to automated content moderation
• Parents and Guardians may request a complete communication log by emailing info@tutorlink.ae
• TutorLink will not use a minor user's data for marketing purposes
• Safeguarding concerns may be disclosed to UAE authorities regardless of other consent settings

• Active account data: retained for duration of account + 3 years after closure
• Session records and communication logs: retained for 3 years from session date
• Payment records: retained for 7 years (UAE commercial requirements)
• Identity verification documents: retained for 2 years after account closure, then securely deleted

• Essential cookies — necessary for the Platform to function. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies — help us understand usage patterns. Used only with your consent.
• Preference cookies — remember your language and display settings.

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest
• Access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only
• Regular security assessments and vulnerability testing
• Mandatory data processing agreements with all third-party service providers

All communication between Teachers and Students must take place through TutorLink's Platform Channels. Teachers are prohibited from collecting, storing, or using a Student's personal contact details outside the Platform. Any violation also constitutes a breach of the UAE PDPL.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates will be notified by email and in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect.
